Chardy Party is now 2-for-2 following her victory in the May 28 Soaring Softly S. (G3) at Belmont
Park. The 3-year-old filly owned by Stonestreet Stables LLC, won her April 27 debut at
Keeneland, also on the turf.
Purchased for $149,402 from the consignment of her breeder, Yeomanstown Stud, at the 2021
Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Stonestreet’s bloodstock agent Ben McElroy, Chardy Party
has earned $88,945 in her two victories.
In her debut Chardy Party was well off the pace before rallying strongly to win. In the Soaring
Softly, she put herself into the race much sooner from her outside post in the field of nine. She
backed off the pace a few lengths around the turn, then made a bold, four-wide move for the
lead in upper stretch. Adversaries threatened on both sides in the final furlong, but Chardy
Party held them off to win by a neck in 1:21.47 for the seven furlongs on the firm turf.
“Ben McElroy has been buying these fillies that I train (for Stonestreet) and he’s done a
phenomenal job,” trainer Wesley Ward said. “I have to take my hat off to him, because he’s
putting a lot of really nice horses in my barn.”
Chardy Party is likely headed to Saratoga for her next start, according to Ward.
“I’ll talk with Ben and the rest of the Stonestreet team, but I believe the Lake George is a
perfect spot on the calendar for her. I believe if she can handle seven-eighths at Belmont she
can handle a two-turn mile at Saratoga,” Ward said.
